M.S. & Ph.D. Assistantship

  • We are actively seeking highly motivated individuals with B.S. or M.S. in computer science, engineering or plant science related area to work in the Department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University. M.S. or Ph.D. graduate assistantships will be available to provide tuition and stipend. Engineering areas include but are not limited to agricultural biological engineering, electrical and computer engineering. Plant science related areas include but are not limited to plant breeding, agronomy, horticulture, and crop science.
  • Strong data analytical skills and experience with high-throughput phenotyping and digital agriculture is highly desirable.

Postdoc Position

  • We are actively seeking highly motivated individuals with Ph.D. in engineering or plant science related area to work on using and/or developing digital agriculture or high-throughput phenotyping tools and/or solutions for plant breeding and/or crop management. This postdoc position is in the Department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University.
  • The successful candidate will carry out relevant research activities, write publications, engage with the transdisciplinary team at Plant Science Initiative. The individual will also have opportunities of mentoring graduate students and writing grant.
  • Preferred qualification: experience in processing and analyzing images from one or more platforms (ground, aerial, satellite), and predicting crop performance using machine learning algorithms; experience in developing and implementing precision agriculture related technologies. Strong programming skills in R or python are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated skills in scientific writing and effective communication.
  • Salary is commensurate with candidate’s experience.
